Oh how delightful is the artwork of Catrin Welz-Stein Her lovely whimsical and fascinating work was the inspiration for poetry prompts at dVerse today. I simply could not resist her Polar Bear whom I have long, long loved … at one time a totem of mine.
i cannot pass you by
you have always been
a great love in my life
you are majestic
you are commanding
were we to lose you
i could easily die
die of loss even though
i don’t really know you
you are dreamlike
your hug is huge
your warmth real
but just a dream
you fade away
out of my picture
as long as you
can remain as long
as the water is cold
as long as
I know that you
are there
we that is all of us
we will go on
we will remain

I can really FEEL the warmth of feeling that you express for the bear. May the dream live on a long long time!
smiles…i would hate to see the polar bears be gone…i am rather fond of them as well…though giving one an actual huge might be a bit scary….smiles…
Polar bears are beautiful. I like the powerful turn at the end.
This goes straight to my heart, Liz. The image of polar bears swimming vast distances because the ice is breaking up north saddens me so much. They are such magnificent creatures.
A beautiful message ~ May they live long on this planet ~
it’s a scary thought that with the climate change specific animals are probably not surviving… i love ice bears as well…they def. are majestic
Beautiful poem, yes just as long as we know they’re still there and we all will remain… so many questions on our future.. love your words!
Oh, I agree about the art work, and your poem – oh, how sad it would be loose this beautiful animal. I share your passion and concern.
Also, Liz, thank you so much for you rich comment on “Bardo” today. I hope you will link in one or two of your poems before the week is out.
Warmest regards,
Jamie
Very plausible reality, do not really want to freeze. But we have had so many decades of thaw, we are probably overdue for the 20 year freeze. Very well written and very much enjoyed reading here.
ah what a sweet love… those white bears have to be saved.. thus saving us
How sad to think it could be lost.
Fluctuation and change… it seems that is what mother earth does – with or without our presence. The lead in line was great, btw.
